How will a weekend job affect your life style?
It’s important to pick a job that won’t totally eat your weekend up. If you commit to taking Sunday off, no matter what, and allow yourself to work your weekend job on Saturday, you’ll strike a balance. If your weekend job makes you substantial extra money, it could mean a brighter better holiday season, vacation, a new car, or the ability to buy a home.
What do you think could make you happy and make substantial money too?
At this point, the first thing to think about is what makes you happy in a general sense. If you love your flower garden, find a wholesale source for potted plants, buy a used U-Haul style truck, and find a great swap meet to attend like a clock, every Saturday. Build out your plant business from there. You won’t get rich but you’ll be happy.
How Dynamically Demanding is The Demand for your product or service?
You can run a free ad on Craigslist before you spend a dollar on your new business. Testing works. Before we got really going with iPhone repair, we tested by placing 3 ads on a Sunday. By Tuesday morning we had received $2,000 worth of repair requests. Let’s say you’re going to bake dog treats at home. Run some CL ads first, to see how much interest there is out there.
Why do people want your product or service?
In the case of potted plants, or natural home made dog treats, we’re talking about an optional item. Even the 4G with “Fighter Jet Glass” have splintered screens. iPhones become important to people – they can hardly wait to get the crushed screen fixed.
How easy is it for someone else to compete with your potted plants or dog treat business?
It isn’t hard to learn to replace the glass on the iPhone. However, don’t try to tell the average person it’s not hard! This works to our advantage because most people are too scared to learn what they think is a difficult skill. It isn’t easy to learn to do it correctly, but it’s not rocket science, and it doesn’t involve “knowing electronics”, like most people think!

The number of broken-screen iPhones is huge because there are millions of iPhones. Add Verizon! You’ll skim a little cream off the top and have more business than you know what to do with.
Demand $45 to $75 or more. Why? Apple gets $200 or more! You won’t be the fastest out there. The best can change the glass in about 3 minutes. You’ll do it in less than 15 minutes, almost every time. The typical repair will net you about $40 profit – not bad for about 10 minutes of work, is it?
Step One: How can you start this business idea for under $100?
If you have an iPhone, slow down – don’t get in a hurry to take it apart. You can go on eBay and order the glass for your iPhone, but only If you own a 3G or 3GS. The 4G is too hard to learn first. The 2G is a a dinosaur and we won’t repair it. Find an eBay supplier. Buy the iPhone glass, digitizer, and the 3M adhesive gasket. Order at 2 sets. Pay under $15 each including Priority Shipping, and tools you will need.
Step Two:
Go on You Tube and find videos teaching you to replace the glass. These will NOT be very good. You can prove how bad the videos are by looking at the comments by people who have ruined their iPhones! Watch a few different glass replacement videos over and over until you feel confident enough. Now replace the glass on your iPhone.
Step Three:
Get a professional website built. Learn all the ins and outs of the business and your marketing by trial and error. Slowly build your business to what ever level you want – stay a “weekend job” type of business, or explode into 7 repair locations, repairing Apple devices and any other quality device which will be worth repairing in the future.
What is possible?
If you just focus on what works, and even if you just work each Saturday, you can do up to 15 repairs in a day. Remember, the average net from a repair is about $40. $40 x 15 = $600 extra dollars a week.
